How to add liquidity and swap on Uniswap

EXMO expands its boundaries: the EXM/USDT pool is now available on Uniswap v4, offering a great opportunity to join the DeFi ecosystem.

Decentralised finance (DeFi) is no longer a futuristic concept — it’s a reality millions of users engage with every day. But how can you painlessly and effectively become part of this profitable trend? In this article, we’ll show you how to easily and securely swap tokens and add liquidity to the EXM/USDT pool. Everything is broken down step by step.

Why this matters

We’re moving toward on-chain activity, as it allows EXMO Coin to grow within the global DeFi environment. Supporting this development means knowing how to interact with platforms like Uniswap. It not only helps you participate in upcoming promotions and Galxe quests, but also opens up opportunities to earn passive income from liquidity provision.

How to swap tokens on Uniswap

A swap is a standard crypto operation where you exchange one token for another. But instead of using a centralised exchange, everything happens through a smart contract — no middlemen involved. For example, you can exchange USDT for EXM directly from your wallet.

Important: Uniswap has currently restricted access for users from Ukraine. We recommend using a VPN service to access the platform without issues.

Step 1: Connect your wallet

The first thing you’ll need to do is connect your wallet. You have two options: create a new one or connect an existing wallet (e.g. MetaMask or Rabby) using a seed phrase. We also recommend installing a convenient browser extension if you haven’t already.

Make sure to write down your seed phrase — this is your wallet’s master key. It’s a set of 12 or 24 words that grants access to your assets, even from a different device. Unlike a typical password, losing your seed phrase equals losing your funds. That’s why you should never store it in chats, screenshots, or cloud storage — only offline, and only in a safe place.

Step 2: Add EXM to your wallet

You now need to top up your wallet with EXM. If you don’t already have EXM in your wallet, send some over.

You’ll see the wallet address and QR code to use for sending EXM to your Uniswap wallet.

Now, head over to your EXMO wallet and withdraw EXM.

Copy the wallet address (or use the QR code in the mobile app) and enter the amount you want to send.

By the way, withdrawing EXMO Coin has just become even more beneficial: the fee is now 0%, and the minimum withdrawal amount is 5,000 EXM.

Alternatively, you can buy EXM directly on Uniswap, but you’ll still need to fund your wallet with ETH first to pay gas fees.

Step 3: Select the EXM/USDT pair

Time to make your first swap. If you’ve already swapped ETH for EXM before, you know the drill. If not, choose EXM in the top field and USDT in the bottom field.

Tip: Make sure you have some ETH in your wallet to cover gas fees.

Step 4: Enter amount and confirm

Enter the amount, check the exchange rate, and click “Swap.” A confirmation window will pop up asking you to sign the transaction via your wallet.

Tip: Set the slippage tolerance to 1–2% to avoid errors due to market volatility.

Congrats! You’ve just made your first decentralized swap.

How to add liquidity to the EXM/USDT pool

Liquidity refers to token pairs used for swaps. You can become a liquidity provider (LP) by adding equal values of EXM and USDT to the pool. In return, you’ll earn a share of all trading fees.

Step 1: Go to the pool page

From the Uniswap homepage, find the “Pools” section and look for the EXM/USDT pool.

Step 4: Set the price range

Choose a price range for the EXM token.

Step 5: Deposit funds

Enter the amount you’d like to deposit. After confirming the transaction, your liquidity will be added and you’ll receive LP tokens.

Reminder: You must deposit equal values — for example, $50 in EXM and $50 in USDT.

Why it’s worth it

Every trade in the pool generates fees — and these are distributed among all LPs based on their share. The more trading activity, the higher the rewards. Right now, the converted APY is around 15–20%, which is even higher than the EXMO Earn program. And returns could increase even further.

Remember about impermanent loss — a temporary loss in token value due to price changes. To offset this, you can open a hedging position on EXMO Margin.

Uniswap v4 makes DeFi more accessible and profitable — minimal fees, flexible liquidity strategies, and full decentralisation. Add to this the growing on-chain presence of EXMO Coin and upcoming campaigns, and you’ve got a great opportunity to both support our token and earn extra income.

Try it yourself: make a swap or add liquidity to the EXM/USDT pool on Uniswap. We’re also preparing exciting DeFi challenges, Galxe quests, and bonuses just for you.
